Hot weather is here, if you want to save up to hundreds of dollars a month off your air conditioning expenses, then you want to put 1 mil or 2 mil in your attic.  This is what you can expect, your air conditioning season will not start for a month after everyone else, it will end a month earlier, and your air conditioner will run a short time and kick off for an equal amount of time rather than running all day long. This is very simple to install in houses with an attic or crawl space. When installing leave air gaps at the top so the heat can rise out, and at the bottom between passes to promote ventilation and an escape for the hot air, this way your attic will not rise to 3 digit numbers. Because the crawl space gets so hot without a heat barrier your air conditioner will not turn off.  Our product is a radiant heat barrier, metalized on both sides. How much do you spend on air conditioning? Wouldn't it be nice to cut that by 60% or 70%.

Who are we:  We are a family run business originated by Niel and Sheri Nielsen. Our son Josh Nielsen has taken over most of the duties. We have been in the business of selling mylar and mirror sheeting films wholesale to stores since 1982 for 30 years.  We saw a need for the public to make mirrors for dance studios, use mirror sheeting in solar applications, and insulate windows and walls to conserve energy.  We decided to start selling our films directly to the public.  We wanted to maintain our small family business status, as we are a husband, wife and son team.  We are raising 4 children and sometimes are not able to make it to the phone so please do not be discouraged if we miss your call. We do check our email everyday, and find it the easier way to communicate.  Thanks for doing business with us, and helping us to stay afloat in these hard times.

MAKING MIRRORS

In order to make a mirror, it is critical that the mirror sheeting be as flat as possible. People have had varying success with different strategies of doing this, a few of which we have described below. Feel free to give these ideas a try, or try your own.

If you decide to make a mirror, the first step I suggest is ordering samples. You need to be able to make the mirror flat, so choose a type of sheeting that you think you can accomplish this with or you will get distortion in the reflected image. The mirror sheeting does scratch easily, so you need to clean it with a polishing cloth and lemon pledge, or you can cover it with the extra clear film.

Some people use thin material and stretch it on a frame, the end result of which is similar to "mylar mirrors" on frames that usually sell for about $600.00 on the web. Others use the thicker film and tensioners (can be ordered below) to mount it. Some use double back mounting tape, some wooden dowels or boards on the top and bottom. Some recommendations regarding this procedure can be found at the link here: Instructions for a portable mirror on a frame.

Tension clips we sell for Creating a Mirror on a Frame

Tensioners  for Making Mirrors

These make it possible to construct a mirror by pulling the edges and  corners tight. It includes an eyelet screw that goes into the wall and a clip that bites into the mirror sheeting and an adjuster with a wing nut to apply tension. You will need at least one on each corner to  pull the sheeting tight.    Includes: 1 eyelet screw, 1 adjuster with wing nut, and 1 clip. You can put this in a stud in the wall, or for a portable mirror screw it into a frame made of PVC pipe.

Tension Clips 1 clamp, 1 eyelet screw, 1 adjuster w/ wing nut, and 1 clip for one corner

$4.00 per clip    (Above black clip)

_______ We have recently been experimenting with using wooden dowels (about 1" diameter) on the top and bottom edges of a piece of mirror sheeting to create a mirror. Also tried a flat board with the sheeting stapled with duct tape over the mirror sheeting under the staples. Then use a turnbuckle to attach an eye hook on the dowel to an eye hook in the wall so you can screw it tighter on each corner to make it even.  This process is easier than using tensioners and has produced generally good results.                                ________turnbuckle

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND TESTIMONIALS

Daycares, Mothers, put this on your wall, and let your children draw on it with erasable markers, or even crayons, while watching themselves, then clean with a diaper and mild soap, and let them do it again and again.  Protect your walls while enhancing your child's imagination.

Wives put it in your shower for your husband to shave with.  Less mess, fast and done.

NOTHING on this planet is MORE reflective or cost effective than OUR mirror sheeting!! White paint doesn't compare! You'll receive FREE light from your walls, a 30% faster growth rate in your hydroponic garden, highest quality guaranteed.

Our 1, 2, and 5  mil, are mostly opaque, and you cannot see thru them.

Our 2 sided mirror sheeting is one of the most reflective products on the market today.

You get a perfect mirror quality reflection from our 5 mil product, its the Premier film on the market today!

We are #1 in customer satisfaction around the world, and nobody beats our price for quality material, we wont sell junk film.

People have been finding all kinds of new ways to use our mirror sheeting.

The top  applications are:

  1. INSULATION IN HOUSES (used on rafters, in attics, on windows, and as a house wrapping for moisture barrier.) NOTE* When working in your attic, especially a hot one, it is important to check periodically for any condensation.  When hot air meets cold moist air, it causes condensation in the wee hours of the morning. If this is happening in your attic then you will need to add ventilation with fans, or vents. Fans would be the best choice hooked to a thermostat and a timer set to come on if it gets to a high temp, expelling the heat, and by a timer periodically to prevent any condensation that might cause mold, mildew, or rotting.
  2.  WINDOW SHADES TESTIMONIALS OF REDUCING THE HEAT IN A 3RD STORY OFFICE BUILDING IN CALIFORNIA BY 20 TO 25º

(the mirror sheeting should not be attached to the window for permanent installation, because the shiney (metallized side) will start to break down after a year or so if you have sweaty windows, you should  put it on a roller or leave an air gap) A thick double backed tape works well, attached to the frame of the window , leaving a small air gap between the film and the window, if you don't want to make roller shades.  Just put it on the corners, and pull tight to make the film flat. You can see thru the single sided film, and it acts like a one way mirror when you have the sun shining on it from the outside, giving you added privacy.

We also carry clear for storm windows in the winter.

Double sided film cannot be seen through, great for privacy, and total blocking of the sunlight.

Hey!  RV/HOME OWNERS/SNOWBIRDS ETC IN AZ, TX, FL, AND ANYWHERE ELSE THAT IT IS SO  DARN HOT! Feel the heat on your rv roof now, then I challenge you all to try our product by putting some 1, 2, 5, or 7 mil. over anything that gets hot from the sun, especially your roof.  Its like being in the shade, you could just lay some down over your roof, securing it with double back mounting tape, trimming out or around vents, air conditioning units etc.  Anything that gets hot by the sun will be cured of that, boom!  Or you could build a framework, that can be removed, and attach it to it.  Heat from the sun completely bounces off the film before your roof can get hot. The film never gets hot and it is a water vapor barrier, also besides being a radiant heat barrier.  Use the 1 mil in your attic, or crawl space, on the floors and rafters, leaving a 1/2 to 1 inch air gap between passes, so it can breathe.  Maybe an attic fan would be another good idea, in reducing your attic temp. which boils down to your being to darn hot! If you have new construction, put the 1mil behind your drywall everywhere, that is probably one of the best things you can do, for significant savings.  It is an absolute must for cabins, and ice fishing huts, anything that needs insulation for hot or cold. The propane heater heat actually bounces off the walls, and seals out the cold making you warmer. If you think you are hot, what about your mom, dad, grandparents and others you love.

Attach it to old fashioned window shades to make them bright and modern.  Pull them down when you want it, pull it up when you don't.

5 and 7 mil, are the perfect choice for making a mirror out of your walls, or doors, even floors and ceilings. Popular for the proms, making dances more exciting, photography studios, day cares, fitness and dance studio's, solar buffs, and contractors  love our products.

** Insulation in Houses - In the southern states where attic temperatures are very hot (120+degrees) air conditioners worHydro House Pick extremely hard to over ride the presence of extreme heat above, trying to "bake" the living space of your home. Our film separates the two temperature zones, protecting your living space, allowing the air conditioner to work more effectively. Heat in the attic is reflected back up through attic vents, hence a big difference!! You will be amazed. In the north where it is cold, the opposite occurs. Your heater or wood stove creates heat that rises trying to escape. Cold air in you attic absorbs this heat. Our film again separates the two temperature zones reflecting the heat back down to your living space, keeping your home warmer or cooler for less money.  Important.....  How to:  Put on perpendicular to joists, that is a 90 degree angle, leaving a 1/2 to 1 inch air gap between passes.

You can expect lower air conditioning, and lower heating bills. Our film is inexpensive and you can install it yourself.

Cleaning the mirror sheeting

It is recommended that cleaning be done with a cloth diaper.

A mil is .001 of an inch, a measurement used to measure your garbage bags.

That is 1000th of an inch.

All thickness's can be cut with scissors or razor knife

Storing Film-- it must be kept away from humidity when on the roll, and should be used as soon as possible after you get it. If exposed to condensation  while on the roll it will peel.

All our films are metallized  polyester film,  as with any metallized film care should be given to never allow it to come in contact with exposed live electrical wires, or sources, it can cause fire, and or electrocution. To avoid suffocation do not allow any small children to play with any plastic that may be able to suffocate a child.
